Favorite Survivor Series Teams

Tuesday Nov 26, 2019

Tuesday Nov 26, 2019

It's been a minute but the Boys are back with a Survivor Series themed episode. When we think of Thanksgiving, we think of teams of five striving to survive! So what better topic to tackle on this turkey week than our favorite teams of all time. Did we go new school with Team NXT? Did we dig deep and pick a Heenan Family team? So many teams to choose from and so little time.
If you're full of turkey and can't stomach any more Survivor Series talk, you are in luck. We dive into other topics like Michigan football, local wrestling shows, Chris still not knowing the difference between Kofi and R-Truth, how poorly eras are labeled in WWE history, what the show on FS1 should be called, our opinions of The Irishman and so much more non-wrestling stuff, I can't believe we are in the wrestling podcast category.

It's time for another BONUS episode! Aka, an apology for abandoning our friends and fans for a few weeks. In honor of the October WWE PPV tradition, we are watching Hell in a Cell from the LCA in Detroit, MI. There are two HIAC matches from the show, but we are going with the New Day vs The Usos for the Smackdown tag titles. Should be a good one! If you have the WWE Network, you can follow along with us (as best you can, because we were fighting a lagging issue with the updated app and it's probably.... not even close to being synced up).
If you can't listen and watch with us... don't worry! We barely talk about the match so you will enjoy our nonsense whether you watch along or not. We talk about the wild weekend we had around the PPV, including the XICW show at Cobo, the Bruce Prichard/Jim Cornette show at St Andrews and almost falling asleep during the PPV. Non-wrestling topics include troubles parking downtown when the Lions are at home, Michigan football woes (reoccurring theme), the movie marathon for CLF on November 1-2 and much more. Sit back, relax and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy talking about our memories from this huge weekend in 20x20 history.

The boys are back, and so are everyone's allergies. After a short hiatus, Peter and Chris are back and are joined in studio by Jacob and Cousin Aaron. The last two weeks have been booming in the wrestling world, so it's a perfect time to reset the table and talk about the Current Product (The CP) - WWE, NWA, Impact, AEW, GCW, Bloodsport, NXT, ROH - we cover it all. We talk angles, what shows we are watching, the lack of heel commentators in the business today, how the sport is transitioning to an MMA-based product and a host of other subjects.
If you're worn out on the ol' CP, don't worry! There is plenty of nonsense in this episode to keep you entertained. Like what movies we are trying to watch this fall, what guests and topics we want to have in the future, how many names can Chris possibly mispronounce in one episode and did everyone forget how to talk directly into the microphone?!? And an Easter Egg so long that we couldn't cut it, we just let it keep going and going...  This episode is another glimpse into how we envisioned this podcast - you're just a fly on the wall, listening to us BS about wrestling with no filters. Well, maybe a few filters in the post production.

If you are a fan of Cousin Aaron, you can follow him on IG at @detroit_dzikus or you can find him at the Berkley Chop Shop on 12 Mile Rd, cuttin' and struttin'.  If you are a fan of movies and wanted more info on the Movie Marathon at the EMagine Novi on November 1-2, please visit https://leukemiamichigan.org/movie-thon/ for more details.

Last week, the 20x20 Crew visited Starrcast 3 in Chicago, IL. Four days of travel, big time shows, meet and greets and everything that has to do with wrestling. There is simply too much to put into the description this week, so you just have to listen! This is different than our usual episodes in the sense that it is a "clip show" with various interviews and segments with combinations of your favorite 20x20 characters like Peter, Chris, Steve, Babahootski Jacob, Rex and others ... but it also captures exactly what we want this podcast to be - you are a fly on the wall of a weekend of conversations. Literally, we recorded in the car on our way home. You're right there with us! In the car, at the table, in the hotel room... we are talking WITH you, not AT you. So sit back and enjoy the Starrcast weekend through our eyes
Let's get into all of the people you will be hearing from on this episode:

This week, 20x20 was at Olde Wrestling in Norwalk, OH. We ran into some of our old friends and we met a new friend by the name of "Supercop" Dick Justice. We were fortunate enough to chat with Officer Justice for a few minutes about topics from Terry Funk and Grado... to Violent J and Jim Cornette... to coney dogs to Christmas trees. How do ANY of those tie together? You will have to listen and find out.
You can find Dick Justice on Twitter at @SupercopJustice and on IG at @SupercopJustice. He also has a PWT store where you can buy all his gimmicks. Big Labor Day sale this weekend on PWT. Or you can go to 20x20Apparel.com for the newest Mecca Tee, debuting this weekend. And please support #JusticeForJustice, in our effort to get the Supercop booked in the great state of Michigan in the near future.
Don't forget to look for us at Starrcast 3, starting on August 29, just outside of Chicago. Tickets are still available! We'd love to see everyone stop by the 20x20 table and tell us your favorite era of Dick Justice's career or argue with us over ICP being in the HOF.

This week, Chris is absent from the NJPW talk, so Peter and Jacob sit down in Studio C with long time listener and first time guest Rob to discuss the G1 29 Tournament. The best matches are broken down, sleeper favorites and overall MVPs are discussed along with our brackets and other nonsense statistics from the last six weeks of New Japan action. Also of note, this episode almost did not come out because of some editing issues, aka, Studio C is haunted. Or the 20x20 Spirits didn't want an episode to go out without Chris on it. So please excuse the sound being a little rougher than usual.
Speaking of nonsense, there is more to discuss than just the G1. We jump right into shaming Jacob for not buying a beer for a young lady at a recent event. Other topics include picking Omega vs Cody, Dave Meltzer's love for handing out 5 stars, NXT vs AEW this fall and a sneak peak into Peter's watching of every Hell in a Cell match.

Don't forget to look for us at Olde Wrestling on August 25 in Ohio, as well as at Starrcast 3, starting on August 29, just outside of Chicago. Tickets are still available for both. We'd love to see everyone stop by the 20x20 table and tell us your favorite era of Ric Flair or argue with us over ICP being in the HOF.

This week, Peter and Chris sit down with Jacob to kick-start a new segment originally called "Favorite Era," but was quickly renamed, "What's Your Era?" As quick as the name changed, the rules also changed to the dismay of one of your hosts. In a nut shell - a wrestler is named and everyone recalls what their most prominent and/or favorite era for that wrestler is. If the wrestler is Ric Flair... Peter may recall his 89 run in NWA, Chris would discuss his 92 Rumble win and Jacob would say, "Is that the old guy in Evolution?" Such disrespect. This will be a reoccurring bit for us, and it is the ultimate glimpse into things that we discuss when we are in a car or hanging around and watching wrestling, just like you and your friends.
Speaking of disrespect, Peter and Chris hammer Jacob for talking ill of Harley Race. Other "off the rail" topics include our feelings on the G1 29 tournament, what our favorite sauces at KFC are, recent business meetings and Peter's emotional issues with them, why Chris (still) wants WrestleMania on a Saturday, a recap of last episode's Gimmick Match list and much much more!

THIS. IS. EXTREME.
In honor the recent Extreme Rules PPV, Pete and Chris return to the Five Count to discuss their favorite gimmick matches! Did someone pick the Piranha Tank Death Match? The Good Housekeeping Match? Crybaby Match? Or do we stick to the classics like Cage and Tornado Tag Team Matches? As always, the discussions go many directions. We discuss our favorite matches that fall under each gimmick and how they tie into the old CP (Current Product).

As always, you can take part in the fun. Send us an email, social media mention or a note attached to a bottle rocket. Use the hashtag #fivecount and we will find it. Let us know what your favorite patriotic moments in wrestling are, and if you think we should invite Jacob back onto the pod ever again after his outbursts.

Bonus Round! We are back with a little bonus episode, the ol' watch-along. Sticking with the theme of patriotic moments, we are watching Lex Luger vs Yokozuna from SummerSlam 1993, from right here at the Palace of Auburn Hills, If you have the WWE Network, tune in at 2:11:15, hit play when the countdown... counts down, and you will feel like you are in the studio with Chris, Peter and Jacob, watching right beside us.
Don't worry - if you cant't watch the show with us, you can still just listen along because we barely talk about the match. If you can get through a record-number of coughs and throat-clearings from Chris (even Marmalade sounds under the weather), you will be greeted with such topics as Esham and the rest of the Detroit rap scene in 1993, the NWO/Wolfpac feud from 1998 and making fun of people and their signs in the crowd. You may even hear a little singing from one of the hosts if you stick around long enough. There's not a lot of booze this week, but that doesn't stop the nonsense.

As always, you can take part in the fun. Send us an email, social media mention or a note in a bottle. Use the hashtag #fivecount and we will find it. Let us know why you think Luger never got the World title or if you think his hair was gorgeous or awful in this era.

Another episode, another Five Count. In honor of Independence Day, Peter and Chris sit down with "Babahootski" Jacob to discuss the most memorable patriotic moments, wrestlers and promos in history. We kick things off debating if this is even politically correct topic and then dive right into it. So crack a beverage, grab a hot dog and celebrate America with us. And check our 20x20 YouTube Playlist to see some of the moments that we discuss. Or dig on The Network or other sources for some more videos regarding the US of A in wrestling.
Don't worry - we stray off-topic for a few moments as well, if talking all USA isn't your cup of tea (we are looking at you, our British listeners). Witness the most bleeps in 20x20 Pod history, mostly from Young Boy Jacob saying inappropriate, non-PC things, as well as a record-amount of coughs and throat-clearings from Chris (he claims he was getting choked up). We also touch on the lineage of the NWA/WCW title, things we have been watching as of late (like the And Then There Was King video from AAW) and you may even hear one of us singing if you listen to the very end. All of this nonsense and much more, as you have come to expect from the 20x20 crew.
